Just wanted to say…the documentary last night was absolutely amazing. I left the theater feeling almost as high as I did in those blissful moments after Jack was born. It was wonderful to vicariously relive the most empowering, spiritual, miraculous, and beautiful moment of my entire life.
My favorite line from the film:
I gave birth.
I can do anything.
(This is not, by any stretch of the imagination, the most attractive picture of me, but it’s beautiful in a way that has nothing to do w/ aesthetics. My dear friend and doula, Rachel, took this picture right after Jack was born. The blood all over my sleeve, btw, was the result of some botched attempt to stab my arm w/ a needle or give me an IV or something. The nurse was in a bit of a hurry since Jack deicded to make his entrance rather quickly!)
thanks for sharing such an amazing moment!
The picture is raw and glorious. How beautiful!
what a sweet picture.
Love it! I wanna see that documentary … but I don’t want to have any more kids. We have been blessed enough! 😉
Oh, I love that line, too. It says it all.
i love that photo, too. sweet mama, sweet boy!
what a wonderful photo, it perfectly captures that blissful thrill of the moment. I’m so glad you were able to make it to the movie.
